The Countywide Water and Sewer study is being prepared by TG Miller Engineers & Surveyors for the Tompkins County Council of Governments.

The study was initiated in response to the need for more housing in the county, in particular affordable housing.  The first part of the study examines the existing water and sewer systems in the county.  The second part of the study provides an analysis of the systems’ capacity to support additional housing development.  The focus of the study is primarily on the infrastructure situation in the suburban and rural areas of the county.  However, the capacity of urban area water and sewerage systems is an integral component of infrastructure for many of those areas.

The public is invited to join the Council of Governments for a presentation of the draft report on Thursday evening.  There will be an opportunity for discussion of the findings.

A copy of the presentation will be available online by Wednesday, March 3, 2010.  Go to www.tcad.org.
