RPM Ecosystems LLC-
Greening New York State and beyond!
New York State Senator James L. Seward joined RPM Ecosystems LLC at their first Open House Field Day on September 12th at their native plant nursery in Dryden, New York.
In 2007, when RPM Ecosystems LLC was searching for the right place to open a northeastern nursery and build their International Headquarters they chose Tompkins County, bringing green economic development to the area. RPM Ecosystems is now in its second phase of development, working with the New York State Energy Research Development Authority (NYSERDA), and Taitum Engineers to build a headquarters building that will achieve Leed’s Platinum certification.
In continued support of RPM Ecosystems LLC, New York State Senator James L. Seward has secured a Capital Improvement Project Grant for $100,000 towards the building of their international headquarters.
“This is a targeted, smart investment in new jobs and local economic
development -- new jobs so our young people can stay here in the careers of their choice. And it’s economic development that provides new local tax revenues and reduces pressure on property taxes,” said Senator Seward.
RPM Ecosystems LLC is a sustainable, green company, producing high performance plants on 158 acres that includes two Federal wetlands that are being restored and protected. RPM’s mission is to provide an important resource in the conservation, restoration and reclamation of major ecosystems that will help restore the earth.
The Dryden-based nursery went into full production with 20 greenhouses and outdoor growing bays in the spring of 2007. This would not have been possible without the support from Tompkins County Area Development, TCIDA, NY Senator James Seward, Tompkins County Planning Department, New York Governor’s Office for Small Cities, NYS Assembly, Chemung Canal Trust Bank, and Barbara Lifton.
